You are watching Pneumococcal Vaccine Roll Out in Nicaragua

Pneumococcal disease is the leading cause of death for children under five around the developing world. It can be prevented by vaccination, but until now vaccines have only been developed for use in rich countries.

But things are changing.

The GAVI Alliance and its partners are dedicated to increasing access to suitable vaccines for children in the developing world. A new vaccine to prevent pneumonia among children in the developing world is being introduced across the developing world. By 2015, The GAVI Alliance plans to vaccinate 90 million children in more than 40 countries, so that all children can get the best possible start in life.
